The Hawkesbury's much-loved Oasis Aquatic and Leisure Centre has received funding for proposed upgrades to expand upon the current centre and provide overall better amenities for patrons.
The Oasis Aquatic and Leisure Centre is a high use facility, providing sport, fitness and leisure services for the local government area and surrounding districts.
Community feedback on the proposed inclusions at Oasis Aquatic and Leisure Centre were received during community consultation conducted in April 2024 and this feedback has been reviewed and considered to inform the proposed concept design. The priorities of the community have informed the inclusions in the concept designs and are listed below. To view the proposed inclusions, please click HERE. To read a summary of the community feedback received, please click HERE.
The proposed improvements in order of priority as part of the upgrade include:
New shallow-depth program pool for learn to swim and seniors programs, including accessibility ramp and warm water therapy programs
Additional school-age amenities for separated use during school events
New outdoor covered gym area, for functional training and group fitness
An outdoor, interactive, zero depth splash park
Covered deck to connect new changerooms to the outdoor café
Additional carparking to cater for large events
Initial project cost estimates indicate a potential budget overrun, with significant cost escalations occurring since the original funding application. Value engineering with cost management strategies are being implemented during design development with scope options assessed against the short-term and medium-to-long-term project outcomes.
Results of community consultation will help inform Council decisions regarding project and scope priorities.
The Oasis Aquatic and Leisure Centre Improvements will be funded through the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program. The Program will see $2 billion worth of transformational infrastructure delivered across Western Sydney.
