Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030, which will guide how events are planned, supported and delivered across the Hawkesbury over the next four years.

Council adopted its current Events Strategy to guide the delivery of events, including the annual events calendar, event budget and sponsorship program. As part of preparing the 2025/2026 Budget, Council reviewed the strategy, the major events program and associated funding.

This review identified that the previous model for delivering the full major events calendar and Event Sponsorship Program was no longer financially sustainable. As a result, Council considered alternative approaches to ensure a viable and sustainable events program into the future.

At the Council Meeting on 8 April 2025, Council resolved to:

  • Establish a biennial calendar for two major events: Savour the Flavour and Light Up Windsor
  • Reshape the Event Sponsorship Policy and Program to focus on supporting Community Events and Special Community Events

These changes have been incorporated into the Draft 2026/2027 Events Budget and form the foundation of the Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030.

Council undertook extensive engagement over almost two years to help inform the review of the draft strategy, events calendar and budget for events.

This engagement included:

  • Community Satisfaction Survey (2023)
  • Event Engagement Boards (2024–2025)
  • Events Focus Groups (2024)
  • Councillor Strategic Workshop – 24–25 November 2024
  • Councillor Workshop – 25 February 2025
  • Council Meeting – 8 April 2025

Feedback from these activities helped shape the direction of the draft strategy and future events program.

The Draft Events Strategy 2026–2030 is on public exhibition from the 16 March until 13 April 2026.

Council invites community members, event organisers and stakeholders to review the draft strategy and provide feedback to help shape the future of events in the Hawkesbury.
