The Bright Ideas to Build Resilience Project supports community development in the Hawkesbury. We can provide support, guidance and training for community groups, committees and individuals to initiate community-led projects.

The aim of the project is to build a more resilient community that is self-supporting in day to day community life in our current normal after the accumulated stress of recent multiple disasters, with a focus of preparation for inevitable future disasters.

What activities or projects would you like in your town to support your community to connect, belong and be involved? Maybe your idea is something you saw working in another town, maybe it is a sport, hobby, social or community group you would like to try, maybe it is something you think would work well for others in your town.

If you are involved in a local committee, what bright idea could take that committee to the next step this year? Maybe your idea consists of grant application and funding administration workshops, exploring auspicing options, committee capacity and development, government and due diligence training, stakeholder collaboration or leadership development. Contact us with your thoughts.

Bright Ideas to Build Resilience Showcase Film

This film showcases 14 community groups of all different types – community groups, interest groups, arts and culture groups, sporting clubs and incorporation associations – from across the Hawkesbury who have had an idea for a project or activity and sought grant funding or sponsorship to make it happen. These are inspirational stories of place-based, locally led, community initiatives and the outcomes for the group, and the broader community. It demonstrates how we connect and build resilience in our communities every day, not just for the next disaster.

Watch the film here on Hawkesbury City Council's Youtube Channel!
