Council is exhibiting a Planning Proposal that seeks to amend the Hawkesbury Local Environmental Plan 2012 to add 11 new local heritage items, amend 16 existing items and remove 1 item from Schedule 5 Part 1.

This Planning Proposal acts on the recommendations of the Hawkesbury Timber Slab Barns and Outbuildings Study 2025 and expands the listings proposed in the current Planning Proposal LEP001/25 Hawkesbury Slab Barns and Outbuildings.

The intended outcome is to provide these historic barns and outbuildings with statutory protection which ensures the preservation of local history and enables property owners access to further financial incentives for the upkeep and adaptive reuse of the historic structures.

The Planning Proposal and other supporting documentation is on public exhibition for the period 04 November 2026 to 18 December 2026.

The Planning Proposal and other supporting documentation can be viewed during the exhibition period online, or between 9:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Friday at Council’s Administration Building, 366 George Street, Windsor.

Written submissions in relation to the planning proposal should be referenced “LEP003/26” and can be posted to Hawkesbury City Council, PO Box 146, WINDSOR NSW 2756 or emailed to council@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au.

The last day for the receipt of submissions is Friday, 18 December 2026.
