Hawkesbury City Council plans to upgrade the playground at Lions Park, Richmond and is seeking input from the community to inform the design of the park and new play space.
Lions Park is a small 0.33 ha local park located at 7 Dight Street and connected to Faithful Street and Hobart Street by unnamed laneways. It currently contains an aged multi-unit play structure, rocker and double swings and has a fence along Dight Street.
Please help Council plan the new design by providing information on how you currently use the park and how you might like to use it in future. The survey form can be found here.
It is proposed to replace the existing playground with a new play space for children 1-12 years old within the 25-26 financial year. Design elements under consideration include new play equipment, shade, seats, bin, new signage, and a pathway connection from the footpath on Dight Street. The softfall will be a combination of mulch with rubber in key wear areas.
The playground will be designed to:
improve access and circulation into and throughout the park.
improve site identification and wayfinding using Council’s new suite of signage.
improve the provision of shade, reducing user’s exposure to UV radiation and contributing to a cooler environment.
improve image and character of the park.
improve amenity, safety, and equity.
minimise future maintenance burden.
minimise potential impact on neighbouring residents.
