LOCAL RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES

Peppercorn Recovery Support Services offer individual support to strengthen the capacity, over time, of the flood impacted people of our community by facilitating and working with clients to engage with services, seek financial assistance and information and when needed navigate the range of services available. Call 4587 0225 or email rss@peppercorn.org.au to speak with a Recovery Support Worker.

Community Hubs normally provide fortnightly face to face support in the Community Tuesday to Friday in Bilpin, Wilberforce, Colo Heights and St Albans.


Face to face hubs have been suspended due to the Health Restrictions but will be back from November 1!!!

A new ONLINE HUB is still available on Mondays and Bounce Back Exercise Groups are running online.

Donations - Official donation channel open – storms and flooding: GIVIT

To help people affected by the severe storms and flooding across New South Wales, generous Australians are encouraged to donate money, items, skills and services online at www.GIVIT.org.au to donate.

Donations for the Severe Storms and Flooding fund on GIVIT can be directed to the Hawkesbury specifically by selecting DONATE FUNDS and typing Hawkesbury in the Comments section when making a donation OR by selecting DONATE FUNDS and selecting to directly FUND items requested in the Hawkesbury area.

    The Hawkesbury Waste Management Facility is CLOSED TODAY, Easter Saturday, 3 April 2021.

    This facility will reopen tomorrow, Easter Sunday, 4 April and Easter Monday, 5 April 2021 from 8am to 4pm for all residents.

  • ASSISTANCE FOR FLOOD AFFECTED PROPERTIES - 2/4/21

    If your property is in the Hawkesbury and it has been flood affected and you need assistance with;

    1️⃣ Delivery of a skip bin
    2️⃣ Pick up of a skip bin with flood affected materials
    3️⃣ Assistance with your flood clean up

    This service is offered FREE to Hawkesbury residents who have flood affected properties. You will need to provide your name, address and details of the amount and type of waste to be disposed of.

    There are still many roads that are impassable along with ferries that are not in operation, so there may be delays to some locations.
    If you are unable to register online, please call our Customer Service Team during business hours on 4560 4444 for assistance.

    Our waste collections will continue as normal over the Easter Long Weekend so please put your bin out at the normal designated time for collection.

    Some areas of the Hawkesbury have limited or no truck access. As soon as road access is available to these locations, we will return to empty these bins. Please continue to leave your bins out until they are emptied.

    Our contractors will be on the roads over the coming days to collect your recycle and green waste bins. Please leave them out for now until they are collected.

  • WISEMANS FERRY WASTE COLLECTION 02/04/2021

    Waste collection services to our residents of Wisemans Ferry are recommencing tomorrow, Friday, 2 April. Please ensure your bins are out and ready to be collected.

    We understand that these residents have more waste to dispose of due to the missed services, but we ask that you please DO NOT overload your bins as this may lead to further missed services if your bin is TOO HEAVY to collect.

    Please bag any extra rubbish and we will try to add it to the truck or return for additional collections as required. If you hear the garbage truck coming make sure your waste it out!

  • MARINE NOTICE - HAWKESBURY/NEPEAN RIVERS REGULATION OF VESSELS MAXIMUM SPEED 1 APRIL TO 14 APRIL 2021

    Due to the flooding of tributaries into the Hawkesbury/Nepean rivers, significant navigation hazards including trees and other debris still exist.

    Vessel operators are advised that all waters west of Hawkesbury River Rail Bridge (Brooklyn) on the Hawkesbury River, Nepean River and their tributaries have a restriction declared in place for the 1 April to 14 April inclusive. The restriction is applicable to all vessels (including personal watercraft) and applies and takes precedence over any localised signage.

    Pursuant to Section 12(3) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 a maximum speed limit of 15 knots must be adhered to at all times.
    Penalties may apply (section 12(5) - Marine Safety Act 1998)

    UPDATE ON COUNCIL PARK FACILITIES - 1/4/21

    Due to the damage and clean up required at several of our Parks and open spaces, we will have to CLOSE the following sites to the public until they are cleaned up and repaired:

    Governor Phillip Park – Playspace, Picnic Facilities and Boat Ramp
    Church Street Reserve – Playspace
    Macquarie Park – Playspace and Picnic Facilities
    Hawkesbury Park – Playspace
    Yarramundi Reserve
    Navua Reserve
    Sections of Howe Park
    Sections of Hanna Park
    Upper Colo Reserve

    We are working with the Hawkesbury Sports Council to provide an update on our local sports fields.

    We apologise for the inconvenience, but our communities safety is our priority. Updates will be provided as they come to hand.

  • Opening Hours for the Waste Facility Over Easter

    The waste facility will be open on Sunday 4th and Monday 5th April of the Easter long weekend from 8am to 4pm each day.
    The waste facility will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.
    Flood Damaged Waste will be accepted free of charge. Charges apply for other waste that is not flood waste.

    Waste will be checked at the gate.
    Loads containing asbestos will be rejected.

    Operating conditions are:
    Bookings must be made for flood damage waste
    Appointments must be booked ahead for you to be permitted access in to the facility.
    Bookings must be made 24 hours’ in advance
    Bookings are available between 8:00am – 3:30pm
    Bookings will be for a maximum period of 30 minutes in total and this will be monitored by our landfill staff
    You will be required to provide proof that you are a Hawkesbury City Council Resident upon entry to the Facility (i.e. license with residential address, rates notice)
    If you are late by your appointment by 10 or more minutes, you may not be permitted access to the facility and may be required to re-book
    Persons must follow landfill and gatehouse attendants instructions at all times. Any refusal to follow instruction will be treated very seriously and you will be asked to leave.

  • Flood Recovery Centre Opening at South Windsor Tomorrow - 31/3/21

    Recovery Centres have an extensive range of government and non-government services to help with financial, physical and emotional support and offer a one-stop shop for anyone affected by the 2021 floods.
    South Windsor Family Centre (opens Thursday 1st April)
    6 Greenhills Way, South Windsor
    9am to 5pm on weekdays (not Public Holidays)
    Easter Public Holiday operating hours are as follows;
    • Good Friday - CLOSED
    • Easter Saturday 10am to 2pm
    • Easter Sunday - CLOSED
    • Easter Monday - 10am to 2pm
    Recovery Centres are managed by Resilience NSW with support from Council.
    There will be further information on Recovery Centres and Hubs announced in the coming days
