• Evacuation Centres - 23/3/21

    Wherever possible, people should go and stay with family or friends, or make other accommodation arrangements. These centres are also available for those who may have been caught out away from home in a flood affected area. Evacuation centres have been established at the following locations;

    • North Richmond Community Centre located at 33 William Street, North Richmond
    • Richmond Club located at Cnr of East Market Street and Francis Street, Richmond
    • Castle Hill RSL located at 77 Castle Street, Castle Hill

    For any information about current evacuations, please call the Public Information and Inquiry Centre (PIIC) on 1800 227 228.

    The last few days have been busy ones for the Hawkesbury community. Council staff have been working to keep us all safe on the roads.

    Here is a snapshot of some of what we have seen right across the District.





  • Council Sullage Pump Out Service - 22/3/21

    Council is still providing a service for sullage pump out on the west side of the river however because of the flooding and heavy rain there will be some delays.

    Please be patient we are trying to get to as many of our residents as we can.

    We will provide more updates on this service during this coming week.


  • Kerbside Collection - 22/3/21

    Cleanaway have advised Council that they will be calling residents who have a kerbside collection scheduled for this week to arrange a new date for collection.

    Even though the access to our treatment plant at South Windsor is restricted and some of our pump stations are flooded we are continuing to operate because we have remote monitoring and control of treatment plant.

    We have been receiving lots of enquires about your bins. Council would like to provide this update.

    East Side of the River – Richmond, Windsor and surrounding areas.

    Council would like to advise our residents to leave their bins out for collection on your scheduled day. Council will endeavour to collect your bins during this coming week, we cannot provide exact timing at this stage.

    West side of the River – North Richmond, Wilberforce and surrounding areas.
    Council is working on providing a service to this side of the river. We will update this post today with how your bins will be collected over the coming week.

    Council will provide updates on the bin collection service regularly.

  • Hawkesbury Companion Animal Shelter - 22/3/21

    We have had lot of people asking how the animals in the Shelter are so we thought we’d give you an update.

    The Companion Animal Shelter is closed to the public as the shelter has lost power. The animals have had to be evacuated and have been relocated to Blacktown Animal Holding Facility and an animal shelter in the Cumberland City LGA.

    Rest assured our animals are safe and been well looked after by our staff.

    We will provide further updates on the Companion Animal Shelter over the next few days.

    Council is advising the community that based on the latest advice from the SES and the BOM we have closed our facilities until further notice. The following facilities have been closed:

    - Hawkesbury Regional Library
    - Hawkesbury Regional Gallery
    - Hawkesbury Regional Museum
    - Richmond Library
    - Richmond Pool
    - Visitor Information Centre
    - Waste Management Facility
    - Hawkesbury Nursery
    - Companion Animal Shelter
    - Oasis Aquatic and Leisure Centre
    - Upper Colo Reserve
    - Windsor Boat Ramp

    Waste Services will continue to be provided. Please put out your bins on your scheduled day and we will pick them up when we can.
