GIVIT - The official donation channel
It is natural and heartening that people want to help at this time, but if you would like to donate items including clothing, household items and furniture to people affected by the severe storms and flooding across the Hawkesbury, please do NOT take these items to local charities at this time.
The best way to ensure that your items get to flood affected people in the Hawkesbury at the right time is to go the website www.givit.org.au and click the DONATE ITEMS tab. Please keep your items at HOME until they are needed.
You will be able to register what you have to donate and community and recovery services working directly on the ground in the Hawkesbury will look on www.givit.org.au to find what individuals need at the time they need it.
It will be imperative for community and recovery services out in the community, to be able to go to one central place – the GIVIT site to see what is available.
Please DO NOT overwhelm charities with donations. It will create a whole other disaster to manage and we don’t want the items donated to end up in landfill instead of getting to flood affected people at the RIGHT time.
Thank you for wanting to help but let’s not make the job of recovery and community services helping people any more difficult at this time.
