Hawkesbury City Council is committed to fostering a community that is inclusive for all people who live, work and visit our region. This means ensuring all people with disability and diverse needs have every opportunity to fully connect, participate and enjoy the community, social and business life of the Hawkesbury region.

We are currently undertaking community and stakeholder consultation to help shape and inform the development of Council’s 2027 – 2030 Disability Inclusion Action Plan. We want to hear from the Hawkesbury community about local challenges and opportunities for improving access and inclusion for people with Disability.

The new DIAP will provide Council with a clear roadmap for improving inclusion and access in the Hawkesbury, through identifying practical steps to be delivered over the plan’s implementation period. Developed in collaboration with Council’s DIAP working group, the plan will focus on four key areas as set out in the NSW Disability Inclusion Action Plan. These include;

  1. Improving community attitudes and behaviours toward those with disability.
  2. Improving systems and processes to be more accessible and inclusive.
  3. Increasing employment opportunities and improving support for those with disability seeking and engaging in employment.
  4. Building more liveable communities.

Council is committed to hearing from our local community, and we invite you to join us at one of the following events or community pop ups:
